We're back from Spain and immediately drove to a wedding in Indiana with old friends. We flew all day and now we're unpacking. Just enough time for a short post before collapsing into bed.

I was corresponding with a friend about what gets in the way of prayer. So many things get in the way of prayer. And she asked me this question:

"How can we practically incorporate that into the life of the mom with preschoolers, the full time worker/full time house, the stay at home with teens, the abused and neglected, the single career woman..."

I wrote her that I saw three things that limit our prayer life:

  • hunger factor - how badly you're wanting to pursue God and what you're prepared to do in that pursuit.
  • visible obstacles - sin issues, bad habits that exist in the conscious real.
  • invisible obstacles - those things a person may not be postured to hear or deal with - sometimes sins of omission.

What makes it hard for you?
